A drain blocks at the point where something stops moving: grease in a kitchen bend, hair in a shower trap, sand in a floor drain. We find that point, clear it and run water to prove it. Drain cleaning for homes, restaurants and shops across Doha.

The main drain or the manhole outside is blocked. Every flush adds to the problem.
Cooking fat, rice and coffee grounds set hard in the bend under the sink. We open the trap, clear the pipe beyond it and flush with hot water.
Hair bound with soap sits just below the grate. It is pulled out with a hand auger, and the trap is cleaned.
Wipes, cotton buds and too much paper lodge in the bend of the pan. Cleared with a toilet auger, without lifting the pan in most cases.
Sand, dust and mop fibres settle in the trap. We lift the grate, scoop the trap and rinse the line.
Lint and detergent sludge narrow the standpipe until it overflows mid-cycle. The pipe is rodded and flushed.
Grease, roots or a collapsed section. The manhole is opened, the line rodded or machine-cleaned, and the flow checked from the house.
Everything inside your boundary wall, including the manhole in your own yard, is the property owner's to maintain. That is the part a private plumber clears.
The sewer under the street belongs to the public network run by Ashghal, the Public Works Authority. If the manhole in the road is overflowing, or several houses on the street are backing up together, the blockage is on the public side and Ashghal's call centre takes the report.

Every drain has a trap, a bend that holds a little water to seal out sewer gas. In a bathroom that is rarely used, the air conditioning dries that water out within weeks, and the smell walks straight in.
Pour a jug of water into the floor drain and wait an hour. If the smell goes, the trap was dry, and a jug of water once a month keeps it sealed.
If the smell stays, the trap is cracked, missing or full of sludge, or a vent pipe is blocked. That needs a plumber, and it is usually a short job.

Because the fat is still in the pipe. Plunging or a quick clean opens a hole through the grease, and the next few weeks of cooking close it again. The bend and the pipe beyond it need to be cleaned back to bare pipe.
The two share a pipe that is partly blocked, or the vent that lets air into the system is obstructed. The draining water pulls air through the nearest trap, which is the gurgle you hear.

Standing waste water is heavy and corrosive. Left for long, it stresses joints, lets sewage seep under tiles and can flood back into the room through the lowest drain.
Wipe fat from pans into the bin before washing up, fit hair catchers on shower drains, keep wipes out of the toilet, and run a jug of water into unused floor drains once a month.
